12:30 am - ATTN: WASTELAND
Once again, my apologies to those who don't care.

[info]handfulof_dust has a new layout, and updated tags. Suggestions are welcome all around for things that should be on the main page as well as in the profile.

I am working on some sort of essential guide to this version of Chicago as well. If I am really crazy, I might make an actual map. But anyway, what I am asking for is locations! Where do your characters live? Where do you think certain exchanges are located? What have you mentioned?

I have general locations for the Wasteland and the safe zone and the area controlled by the Pack. Obviously the Field Museum is fixed. I've extrapolated a few others from user info and threads, but assume I know nothing! The more info the better.

What else should there be for available OOC info for new and old players alike? Post it here! Link it to people who haven't seen it! I'll be watching this post tomorrow at work, likely.

10:09 pm - ATTN: WASTELAND AGAIN
Okay. It seems we have interest from what has been the main group of Wastelanders for the last little while: Merc, Fry, Lynne, Becca, Jez, Feather and me. Obviously not everyone is on my flist, however.

So, if you've talked to Ashie, Jenna, or Jacee, lately, maybe you could point them to this post or that one?

I'm aware that both Fayhe and Ji are pretty damn busy with school. Viv, how about you?

Just remember it's OKAY IF YOU DON'T WANT TO. Really. My only goal here is to find out who's in, so we can clean up the comm and move on to moving on!

Things that have been suggested:

Zombies 2.0: Harder, better, faster, stronger?
Another timeskip, which seems more like a necessity to me.
A group chat and/or set time for hopping on and playing.

Some plot ideas that were leftover from another brainstorm: another motorcycle gang invades, first wave of the army, a HUGE storm.

I'm also gonna look at fixing the comm's background and links, with permission from the lovely Merc, of course. Merc, did you have anything in mind, or should I try and find someone to pretty it up for us?

Once again, open to discussion.

The (probably incomplete) list of books I've read so far this year:

The List )

I know there are more I got out of the library, but heck if I can remember them at the moment.

I just had someone come in and non-ironically ask for 'pokémans'.

Sigh.

Only 5 hours left.

10:13 am - ATTN: WASTELAND
*sigh* Another day at work. I hate closing, then opening the next morning. ANYWAY.

Wastelanders. This post is once again public because I still have not made a filter. OH WELL.

Merc and I talked last night, and we were wondering:

1. Who is still interested in getting back into the game?
2. If you are, what plots would you like to see happen? Game wide, opt-in, whatever. Just brainstorming, now.
3. If we get back on the bandwagon, feel like recruiting? Some fresh blood (pun completely intended) could also galvanize us.

Consider this post open for any and all Wasteland discussion. *goes to vacuum*

I have been socializing all weekend. WHAT IS THAT ABOUT, I ask you.

I watched Bones with the Milliways Maine contingent tonight, another evening spent excellently. I had the making for stir fry just about ready when they arrived, and we chowed down and talked and ate tasty dinner and cookies until we almost exploded.

My inner 13 year old is still stunned that there are real people on the internet, I think. Lucky for me though, as they are awesome people. <3

I also went to sleep before 11 last night. I might be going to sleep early again tonight. I feel a little better than I have been all week. I should be recharged again soon, thank goodness. I really hate not being able to think.

So yes, that is where I have been if anyone was wondering.

nnnngh. I don't know what's with me. I'm all twitchy and I feel like I may end up chewing on the scenery pretty soon. I was tired! Now I'm all wired. I guess playing beat 'em up video games is not a good way to relax at the moment.

*twitch twitch*

Someone just shoot me with a tranquilizer dart, okay?

I...am going to be so glad when this class is over. I'm not a terrific student. I am smart. I am pretty darn smart when it comes to many things. But I have terrible study habits, and when something doesn't hold my interest? Forget about me putting any more effort in than I must.

But I'm good at math, even when I don't like it. I can get some joy out of solving something correctly. But this whole semester has just been... argh. I can admit now that my professor is driving me crazy.

Our pace has been horrifically draggingly slow to accommodate the people who OBVIOUSLY didn't have to take the math proficiency test I had to take to get into the class. And then our professor gets worried about being behind and assigns us two labs, homework, and a chapter test. We solve problems in class that are already solved in the book.

He is a very nice man and is always willing to answer questions that people might have. I might appreciate that more if I wasn't either desperately bored or doing repetitive problem sets and labs.

I'm so lucky I had good math teachers in high school.

Now that my bitch-fest is over, is there any subject or skill that you guys despise with all your heart and soul, but are good at anyway?

There are a lot of things I like about winter. I like the look of the first snow, even if I have to shovel it. I like ice skating and sledding and getting some time off of school. I like holidays and cooking and baking, and seeing people I don't see very often. I like sitting by a warm fire and drinking hot cocoa.

These are all just parts though, a day here, an afternoon there, an hour here. It doesn't really make up for days that you're inside, and still so cold that your elbows hurt. Knuckles so dry that they crack and bleed. That sniffle that doesn't quite go away, or the fact that you only see the sun for a few hours if you work later at night.

But summer, ah, summer. There is very little I don't like about summer. It's hard to get too hot for me. Humid, sure, but I love the heat. I'm even sort of looking forward to it being busy in the store again. I'm starting to tire of vacuuming and sorting inventory and alphabetizing overstock.

Which is to say, I am going to Georgia with my dad for four days to soak up some above 50 degree temperatures. I'm pretty sure the hotel has internet, but I'm not sure how much I'll be around. I'll sit in the sun for everyone.

I would like it to be known that I currently have a burning hatred for histograms. I GET IT, ALREADY. I HAVE KNOWN HOW TO GRAPH THINGS SINCE BEFORE MIDDLE SCHOOL. IT IS NOT MORE HELPFUL TO ME THAN A LIST OF DATA.

MEME ATTACK.

Tell me about your favorite tabletop RPG character. NO ONLINE ONES. We talk about those all the time, probably. LARP characters are also acceptable.

OKAY GO.

EDIT OF DOOM:

My favorite character is usually the one I play most at the current time. But a long running favorite of mine is a half-goblin fighter named Feiringlas Crevan. She is chaotic neutral, with an astronomical Intimidate bonus and a morningstar she called 'The Tenderizer'. That was two weapons ago (one melted by demonspawn, second dissolved by a gelatinous cube).

She's rude and somewhat crude and doesn't give two copper pieces what anyone thinks of her. Except for the elven sorceress that she travels with, and to some extent, that elf's significant other. Fei is a huge softy to her, and they show their love for each other by constantly exchanging insults.

This girl is getting to be pretty high level, so she is a beast at both taking damage and dealing it out. When they were getting bossed around by a paladin called Jarwin the Bright, she promptly nicknamed him 'Jarhead the Dim'. She threatens to eat elves, but is on a quest to save the world. I ♥ her.

Today, there was a lot of snow. I actually did not go to work because of it all. That's not too bad, I'll just make it up on Tuesday. But still. Annoying. So we tried to have some fun with it, and not just be mad.

But still, there is a fuckton of snow. Observe the picspam! )

Making a list of manga to put on sale, I discovered one called 'Midori Days'. The summary on the back is as follows:

At heart, tough guy Seiji Sawamura is a softy, and all he wants is to end his romantic losing streak. Then one day, Seiji wakes up to discover his 'devil's right hand' has turned into...a miniature girl named Midori!

Strangely enough, Midori is a real girl who is just as surprised as Seiji to find that she has now become -literally- Seiji's right hand! Midori has always had a crush on Seiji and her desperate wish to be connected to him has somehow come true...maybe all too true!

AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Oh, manga. Never change.

oh em gee it is still snowing.

If this was an episode of Supernatural, I would be watching and yelling at myself right now. "NO. Don't leave your secluded country house and go outside at one in the morning! And then you go and make it worse by going into your GARAGE ATTIC. If you get eaten by a wendigo, I will not feel sorry for you."

Luckily, it is not. And I had to, because my cat wouldn't like being shoved into an ice cold carrier on top of being dragged to the vet.

ETA: The next morning. The sun is out. But it's STILL SNOWING. ???

The canon smash game!

I was infected with this the other night, and spent the day today making up more with my coworker. The idea is to take two movie/book/comic/TV show titles and smash them together so it sounds like one movie. Return of the King and I was one of my favorites someone else came up with.

So here is the list we came up with today: )

My challenge to you guys is to come up with a short summary, or just a key quote for some of these. I already have a few in mind, but I want to see what you think. :D?

I think I can finally say I'm not sick anymore.

I have eaten a lot of Asian food over the past few days. I can find nothing wrong with this. Boston remains an awesome city, not solely because it's full of awesome people, but that is a big part of it.

I have new sneakers.

Sour gummi watermelon slices are awesome.

And I've had this song stuck in my head for two days. Share my pain. (Copy the link and paste it into the browser before changing the X back to a T. Megaupload doesn't like direct links.)

Rufus Wainwright- Evil Angel )

That's all the damage I can do around this popsicle stand. Time to water the plants!

ALL RIGHT, ENOUGH

Three days of fever and two days after that with no voice and now if any more snot comes out of my head I could float a boat in it.

I GIVE ALREADY.

Whatever bad karma I have accrued at this point, I think I paid it off!

*sulks and goes back to video games and watching musicals on TCM* oh, my attention span and brainpower. I miss you. come home soon.
